Way in 01 · Run the miner kit
Run the miner kit.
The miner kit is open source. Run it on your own machine and tell us where it breaks.
Today the testnet miners are run by Provenonce and outside miners are not enrolled. You can run the public miner kit locally. Outside participation on the testnet is planned in three stages: local, then shadow (run without carrying weight), then weighted. Each stage will have published criteria. None is published yet, and there is no date.
What you can do today
- Install the kit, run its tests and the local demo. Python 3.12 or later; versions are pinned. The steps are in the miner quickstart, which is marked draft.
- Run the localhost miner server, send it a fixture capsule and compare the answer with the documented output. It binds to loopback only, loads no key and sends nothing to a chain.
- Write your own method: a function from one validated capsule to one differential. The quickstart names a worked example and how to register a method.
- Only miners that Provenonce operates are weighted today.
What opens next
- Shadow stage (planned): an outside miner is run without carrying weight.
- Weighted stage (planned): after the shadow stage, against published criteria rather than order of arrival.
On what condition
- Criteria for each stage are published before that stage opens. None is published yet.
- No date is set. Until then the route is the first one above: run the kit locally and file what breaks.
Where to send what you find
- Setup failures, scoring questions and other technical problems: open an issue in the public repository.
- Other questions: ask in the group linked on the Participate page. We collect questions every Wednesday and post answers on the FAQ every Friday.
