Way in 03 · Bring work or build a task family
Bring work. Build a task family.
The entry point is the CMT, the Canonical Miner Task. A new task family is a new class binding, never a new scorer.
Today the testnet miners are run by Provenonce and outside miners are not enrolled. You can run the public miner kit locally. Outside participation on the testnet is planned in three stages: local, then shadow (run without carrying weight), then weighted. Each stage will have published criteria. None is published yet, and there is no date.
What you can do today
- Read the CMT specification. A CMT is a reusable, versioned task specification plus a compiled compatibility report. It is a candidate schema and is not adopted.
- Read the rule in CONTRIBUTING: scoring has one scorer, one canonicalizer and one profile loader, and a new family is a new
ClassBinding. - Know the current limit. In CMT v0.1 only the
IC-APPROVAL-APPLICABILITYfamily compiles.TYPE-C-RELEASEis rejected. - Read how a work owner would bound what is disclosed, in the Capsule design of the whitepaper.
- Testnet cases are synthetic. Do not send real organisation evidence, secrets or hidden instances to a public issue.
What opens next
- More task families that compile and run, starting from proposals you describe against the CMT.
On what condition
- The CMT leaves candidate status and closes the gaps its specification lists, such as signatures, the instance state machine and public conformance vectors beyond the one golden CMT.
- No date is set. To propose a family now, open an issue that describes it in CMT terms.
Where to send what you find
- Setup failures, scoring questions and other technical problems: open an issue in the public repository.
- Other questions: ask in the group linked on the Participate page. We collect questions every Wednesday and post answers on the FAQ every Friday.
